Comment:

I recently rebooted as a result of installing DiscJuggler. That's about the only out of place thing I can think of that's been going on in my box.
When I rebooted, it flew through the mobo test screen, barely making it visible. It sat at a "Scanning Option ROMs_" screen, with the cursor blinking. If I have my HDDs plugged in, it reads 'em for a while and then just sits. I get this message even if I unplug every drive in the freakin' thing.

WTF?

People in cars cause accidents; accidents in cars cause people.

Try to reset the CMOS. The easyest way to do this is like so:

1. remove power cord

2. remove battery (it's sylver, about the size of a coin and it is situated on the mobo)

3. wait 5 minutes

4. plug battery (watch the polarity)

5. plug power cord :)

6. turn on the PC

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

I actually did that. No battery, drained battery, full battery, same thing, even if I press f2. CMOS got reset, though.

What? I received a massage on this very desk, this very morning!

Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version.

Well, you know, I would--but every tool that
intel hands out for BIOS upgrade requires
some kind of OS to begin with. Even if I
switch the jumper to BIOS recovery position
I can't get any headway. I'm thinking of
scrapping it, but it's such a waste.

That's incorect. BIOS upgrades doesn't requiere an OS installed. Actualy never use bios utilities from windows. Always flash your bios with a bootable floppy disk. Flashing from windows just ask for troubles :)

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...
