Hey guys I just wanted to get your guys opinoin. Right now I have an Asus P5GDC Deluxe motherboard and a 250GB Sata 150 hard drive. I want to upgrade to two RAID 0 250GB Sata II hard drives but the Asus board I have right now only supports Sata 150.

I currently have a P4 3.0 and 2GB of ram

So in feedback from you I don't know if I should keep the P4 and buy a Sata II Raid PCI Express card and just put that in my system to hook up the Sata II hard drives or is my P4 getting dust on it and it's time to go current again and wait till after christmas and just buy a new motherboard and hook myself up with a Core 2 duo chip

Thanks for your opinoins guys.

What do you hope to accomplish by going to the 2 SATA 2 drives?

You'll see little or no difference between SATA1 & SATA2 HDDs, unless the specs (seek time, buffer, etc) are better. And RAID-0 is not a wise move. It may be a little faster, but there's no redunancy, so if one drive fails, you'll lose all your data with no possible way to get it back.

Have you considered a PCI controller card?

Well for one I need more room and there's no difference in price between Sata II and Sata so if there is an performance gain atleast I'll have it. Jam what's the difference between Raid 0 and 1 or what's the safest Raid, I know there's Job too or somethin?

the specs I'll have 32MB Cache Raided instead of the 8MB I have now with the one Sata drive.

RAID 0 HAS no safety. If either drive fails for ANY reason ALL the data is gone. For an explanation of RAID look here: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/R/RAI...
