Hello, I have a Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 system with an Audigy Gamer sound card. For some reason, when I try to play music or games or anything else, sound comes from the speakers only once in a while. The amp is making the bass but something is not working properly.
Oddly enough, the headphones are producing sound just fine.

If the software is setup right (drivers, set for 5.1 speakers, etc), check the wires. You could have a short in one of them.
Try to play a cd. While it is playing, adjust the line-out jack (turn it clockwise / counter-clockwise all the way around). If nothing, carefully pull the wire taught section by section. If you hear lots of static or the sound improves, it could be the wire.
Summary: Sounds like your power supply is making sounds under stress. I would also check for loose or over tightened mounting screws on the power supply or hard drives. ...
