On-Board Video and PCI-Exprees Slot

I just bought a PowerSpec 6640 with ATI X200 on-board video, sharing 64MB of RAM. It has a PCI-Exprees slot, and I also bought a GeForce 6200 256MB PCI-Express video card. I went into the BIOS to disable the on-board video and cannot locate the setting anywhere (I have done this many times with systems which have on-board video and AGP slots, gennerally found in Integrated Peripherals section). My question is: Does the PCI-Express automaticly detect the video card when one is present in the PCI-Express slot and then disables the on-board video?
Summary: if you want to play 3d games then on board video will not be that good. On board video is fine for internet / office type stuff but not 3d games. It is important that people realise that 64mb on-board...
