Ok guys, need your help with this "tiny" problem.

At work we took the speakers off of the Dell Dimension 2300 A02 computer running XP and placed them on the computer running the dual with Win 2k and Xp. We are trying to play music cds so we will have music for our customers and to break the silence.

My question: Does anyone know whether this motherboard: MiTAC International Corp Dimension 2300 has "ON-BOARD" sound or requires a separate pci sound card?

Or, the speakers are not usb, regular plug in speakers, could it be a driver problem regarding the Artec Lansing speakers model #BX21 and just be solved by applying the appropriate speaker drivers for Windows 2000?

I see no devices installed under multimedia. Ot her devices contain the Intel Graphics chipset KCH Driver and Platform SoftBiOS driver.

I used a utility to identify the specifics/hardware and software in a system
and it did not reveal any PCI sound card or anything I can identify as being on-board sound.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

When you look at the back of the computer, does it appear to have a speaker (green) mini plug output?

It has the green and is plugged into the greeen.

I will try the combo keys for a Dell on restart to check the bios to see if onboard sound is "disabled".

On doing a search on this site for information regarding the installation of the drivers for the speakers, I found several posts that states the speaker manufacturer does not and "will not" make a driver for the speakers as they consider the operating system use for "business" and not "personal". It has a lot of people angry.

However, I am learning that the 98 drivers might work, found a few things on Driver Guide. Will research more, try things and post back.
