onboard lan driver problem

CPU/Ram: 2.8ghz/512mb

i can not able to install onboard lan driver.when i put m/b cd ,there is no option for lan driver in that very system. and same way when i put this m/b cd in other system, i got option for lan driver.moreover i can't find lan driver(realteak8139)in device manager but i can find this driver in add& remove program and also in system information in system tool.i check bios ,try reinstallation (first removing from add@remove program).system is also giving"windows can't find this file EKSPLORASI.exe. type correct name and search for file" after starting windows.
is there possibilities of virus ?
plz help me out

i have mercury m/b.i have mine old sata hdd(80gb) because my os get hang ,with 40gb pata hdd.my problem is that this hdd contain linux & xp.i can
run linx but when i start xp it get rebooted.wat sh

You need to start with what windows reports the device is. See hardware, device manager for that network adapter. See the device ID in the properties of the nic, details tab. Would look like this.
PCI\VEN_10B7&DEV_9200&SUBSYS_00C71028&REV_78\4&8537DD&0&60F0

Ven is the maker. Dev is the model.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

1st of all, make sure the onboard LAN is enabled in the BIOS.

2nd, the ASUS site lists the LAN for the P5GV-MX as Realtek RTL8100C, not 8139.

hi jam,
onboard lan is enabled and my asus m/b is-p5gv-tmx/s.
what about when i put m/b cd in drive in that every system, it does'nt show lan driver.and the same cd when i put i some other system of same config ,it showslan driver.
what you say about that.
