HELP ME!!! Why is intel such a pain...
ok here's my system.intel 1130 rev 2 chipset
intel 82801ba sound
celeron 700NOW!... what happens when i overclocked is windows would not be able to detect soundcard right. when u dropped it bak to regular speed it would be fine. But now it cant find the s/c at all. do i buy a new one?
ALSO!... my computer sometimes just stops. dead in the middle of a game. wont even move. im assuming this is because the cpu gets to hot so the bios disables it to allow it to cool. But. MBM5 says my cpu is running in excess of 80 degrees. Is my cpu brkn? Is my board brkn? Is the sensor brkn? am i brkn?
Also i am noticing my large amounts of enragement of the jumpiness of that temp. ill be idling in word and u press ctrl+s and it bump the temperature up by two degrees! I have the stock celery fan on it (that puni half size on that you can stick you finger into without feeling any air) and the one in psu (my fish swims faster than that thing spins, and i dont even have a fish!) and one on the back of the case. Can anyone and everyone please help me with this situation?

Reseat the sound card and boot up, if it's alright your system will detect it, also you can place it in another slot.
If you think your system is overheating replace what you have now with better cooling products from a pc hardware shop.

has your soundcard been cautioned out by windows in control panel > system > hardware > device manager. Windows may have locked it out

"what happens when i overclocked is windows would not be able to detect soundcard right. when u dropped it bak to regular speed it would be fine."
*this might be stupid*
when you overclock your pci bus isn't staying at 33mhz so it gets overclocked too causing everything in it(soundcard, modem, network card etc) to screw up becuase it can't operate at that high of a frequency
*am i wrong?*also it sounds to me like your cooling is not sufficient for overclocking and if you're computer is locking up you probably need to raise your vcore which in turn would raise temps so better cooling is in order...
if you dont know what im talking about(sometimes i dont even know myself) then post back asking questions
what is painfully obvious to one person might be just painful to the other

ok. you might like to know that even when i drop it back to 33mhz pci bus speed, the soundcard doesn't work. I think i have fried the core of it. I will buy a pci card and use it as the onboard one it=s the failing card in question. Also now that you mention it there's no way my cooling is sufficient actually! :P i have the stock cooling installed, last night i gave it a clean (fan heatsink old thermal adhesive) and reseated the cpu without drama. Also when i use mbm to monitor my temps i get some wierd things. One of them sits on 16^ C the whole time, one jumps from 78^ C to 96^ C and the other one which im pretty sure is accurate is assumed to be my cpu wichs is anywhere from 35^ to 45^. Sisoft Sandra reports my board to be a Chicony 47B27X. As far as i know chicony makes peripherals. I cant find this board in the mbm list either so i emiled them.
Also i will post if i dont undrstand. Sometimes i do the wordt job of writing the post ever. You cant tell me if you dont understand me also.

aye! me duele los manos!
i think your onboard sound uses your cpu, it doesnt have it's own dedicated "chip"huh
well, it might be for the best anyway to just get a new soundcard
look in the sunday ads, i saw a post on slickdeals.net about a maddog 4.1 pci sound card for free after rebates
other wise a nice sound blaster live! 5.1 will run you about $30 and it's a very good card
you should also look into better cooling
do you have a fan at the lowerfront of your case bringing air in?
if you dont, that would be a place to start
maybe get a better cpu heatsink/fan
and a northbridge cooler, do you have a nb cooler? or any kind of heatsink on it?what brand is your computer? or did you build it yourself?
what is painfully obvious to one person might be just painful to the other

thanks for the advise giigles, slickdeals.net was of high interest to me. Umm i do have a heatsink on my northbridge but no fanning. also i think the heatsink and fans intel supplied when i got this pc were way under par. the fan is tiny, the heatsink is ok but once again a bit smaller than the whole chip. I bought this computer from Domayne (australia) but the had custom built it themselves. Im not that impressed with it. This computer was basically designed by natcomp and are now known to be built by a company called Hyundai. I think its diffeent to the car one but that doesnt matter. Modifications i have done to the general system is added a hard drive, lan card and a fan. (i dont wanna do too much to it incase it brakes being cheap and all ya kno):P
If you need anymore info, don't hesitate to ask!

"If you need anymore info, don't hesitate to ask!"
well, it never hurts to ask to ask about your powersupply
what brand is it? how many watts is it? how many amps on the +12v rail?
if you dont know how to find that, just look on the label and it will have a chart- under the number +12 it will have a number with a letter a after it
that number is the number you are looking for
this number is how many amps you have on your +12volt rail- the rail your cpu runs off ofit's good just to know this anyway, and for curiosity sake ;)
anyways yea, get some better cooling
idealy you want air coming in from the lower front of the case and rising as it moves to the upper rear of the case and exhausts out the back
this air passes over the harddrives then the nb and ram and then onto the cpu and out the back in an exhaust fan and in your powersupply which acts as an exhaust fan tooyou can also try cutting a hole in the side of your case and mounting a fan there to intake air directly to your nb and ram
or to your cpu or directly to your agp video card and pci cards- depending on where you position iti, in my case, have one 120mm intake fan, 1 80mm side panel fan, 1 80mm exhaust fan, and 1 80mm fan blowing directly on my agp video card
my nb also has a small heatsink/fan on it
my system is fairly cool although temps fluctuate quite a bit
cpu 37^C idle 51^C load when overclocking
vid card 49^C core idle and 52^C load, and ram 32^C idle with no overclocking

Well giggles, My psu is a PROMedia power supply with # amps of power on the +12V rail with an amazingly crap max output of 70, count them 70 watts. I mean i used to own an old Amstrad 486 SLC and it had a 185 watt psu on it. If i do one thing ill save up and get a new psu, really good cooling and a bigger hard drive. Of course money is an issue when youre my age :(

you're not the idiot, the idiot is the person who built that computer and thought that a 70 watt psu would work
i would reccommend either one of these two
thermaltake "silent" purepower 420watt dual fan $43 shipped
Antec 350watt dual fan 16amps on +12v rail $48 shippedthe thermaltake seems to be the better deal, although Antec has a very good reputation and you dont need that extra power the thermaltake has
the thing about amps on the +12v rail is that for modern proccessors you want about 18 but for your celeron 700mhz around 12would do fine i think
i dont know, you dont really need all the power those powersupplies have, just something cheap and long-lasting
