older laptop new drive

I have an older laptop but the bios dose not support harddrives bigger than 8gig and I have a spare drive above 10gig that I would like to use someone recomended installing xp (dose not use bios for hdd) in a partition below 8gig but the laptop Is way below the minimum requirements I would like to use 98se but dont think i will beable to and use the big hdd at the same time are there any other options avalible to use the bigger harddrive in the older laptop ? Thanks

One option is to go to hard drive manufacturer's web site and download an `overlay' program that will work around the bios limitation. You could also manually set the drive size in the bios to 8gb.
