old scanner Adara Slimstar produce dark scans

Adara / Slimstar 1 scanner

Specs: Windows XP
I have an old scanner and it has just quit working. It seems to scan the document but the image is dark and is only displaying in black and white instead of color. I believe the bulb may be burned out as I don't see a light come on during the scan (you can tell I'm not very technical). I understand that the Adara company went out of business and was wondering if anyone knew if I can replace the bulb myself in the scanner and if so, where could I buy one? Or, would it be cheaper just to buy a new scanner?

Some of those bulbs are out on the market. Might be anywhere from cheap to expensive. If you have somehow to google for the parts breakdown you might get a good part number to look for. Otherwise you might be lucky enough to read a part number off the bulb then try an exact match or a different part number that is an exact substitute.

Unless this is a high cost scanner for business or photo or such a substitute can be purchased pretty cheaply. Many are multifunction and can scan to copy and scan to fax and scan to computer and more.
