I was in my basement and saw my 1980's radio shack dot matrix. The printer types 180 cps (slightly faster than my ink jets). There are no drivers for this printer and radio shack has abandoned it's tech support for these products. Can I somehow find some driver that would be compatible with this machine so I can use it again. I know the ink jets print out sharper than this printer, but there is no comparison when it come to printing a page. The old radio shack will print out 10 pages before the ink jet knocks out one, hopefully someone might have an answer as to how I can use this printer again.
Thanking you in advance for any help you can give me,
frank

Windows has the Generic text driver for all printers. You can also run some test pages with the Olivetti DM series like the model 109.I have used this type of driver in the past succesfully with a Tandy printer.I think your ink jet will print 10 pages before the other one does one!Nevertheless dot matrix is not too bad for low volume black and white. It is still used for cash registers applications to get cheap print for multicopy invoices and bills.Good luck.

Have you forgotten how noisy those things are. I agree that you should be able to use a basic driver for another make of printer. I remember that I used a basic Epson driver.

I've done that lot's of times. Just try a driver until you find one that works. Thay are noisy, and it'll probably drive you out of the house! I had a Panasoonic that printed at about 500 CPS and was it noisy!

You might try the IBM driver, if the Epson doesn't do it.

Good luck. HTH

I forgot to mention, the radio shack printer is not that noisy, it has a low hum, though the carriage shifter does make noise moving the paper forward,
thank you again,
frank

The drivers for IBM proprinter or proprinter II usually works for old tandy dot matrix printers.

Someone installed IBM Proprinter II in my Compaq with Windows ME, to run my Tandy DMP 203. Then I did a restore and lost it. Now I'm trying to find a download site. Help? (The printing wasn't perfect but was better than nothing, which is what I have because ME won't recognize this printer.)
