Comment:

I recently purchased a computer i found at a thrift store for $4. when i turn on the computer the moniter doesnt respond or turn on. it has two p3 processors, 128 mb of ram, a sound card, a ethernet card, no HD, and no video card. The motherboard is a Tyan Tiger S1832DL. I have an old Diamond Fire Gl 1000 Pro 8mb AGP video card that i installed to the motherboard and i put in a spare HD i have. please if anyone can help me with this becuase ive come to a dead end on solutions for this problem. in the motherboard manual, it said something about if the CMOS battery is dead, then i will have display problems. it also said that the Fire GL 1000 Pro will have problems with the BIOS.. please help!

You don't need a HDD installed to boot up...take it out. If there are other cards installed, temporarily take them out too. Also, disconnect the floppy & CD drive. All you need is the video card, CPU(s), RAM, & keyboard...if you can't get the rig to POST, try taking out one CPU...if that doesn't help, take out the other & replace the 1st. The manual should explain how to setup single vs dual CPUs. When you have them out, you can get a look to see what speed they are....

you got a dual processor pentium 3 system with 128mb RAM for $4.00??? that was a damn good deal, even without vid card or hard drive, pentium 3s and even the fastest of the pentium 2s are still somwhat decent, just not the best gaming rigs, although my P3 1.0ghz does okay...anyway, they have you pretty much covered. see if you can find a bios update for the mobo on the internet...
