CPU/Ram: AMD athlon 3200 2.20 GHz/
Model/Manufacturer: eMachine/ T3265
Comment:
recently my cd rom stopped reading all but music cd's. When I insert a data cd then double click the device icon on "My computer" i recive a message stating "please insert a disk into drive d"
and yes the drivers are curent. Any idea what is wrong or how to fix it?

this is sad but im not sure what you mean by data format but if it helps they are comp games/programs like legoland and spanish for dummies.

Then try opening from My computer by right clicking and select explore.

Are you sure that they are compatible with Windows? Could they be MAC discs?
Could they be DVD discs?
Do you have any other discs that could try that you know are windows compatible?

If the drive reads audio CDs it should be able to read data CDs.

I just tried a game that I have been useing for years and that I know is compatable and it still gave the same message then I tried right clicking and explore and it still gave the same message.

That's a very strange problem! If it was me, I would borrow a friends drive and try it.

Reading home burned disks will be more difficult for a weak laser than reading factory CDs.
