A couple months ago I bought myself a Nu Technology multiformat DVD burner, the DDW-082. It's supposed to burn DVD-/+Rs at 8x and CDRs at 40x. Sadly, it has not done either. The DVDR media I have is Ritek DVD+R 4.7GB 8x and the CDR media I have is HP 700mb 48x. Now I'm fully aware of the fact that dvd burners are picky with their media, but it doesn't make sense to me that it does not burn CDRs. I bought a single 650mb 12x (don't ask) Kodak CDR with the burner to test it out. It burned fine, I even filled up the CDR completely without overburn. Worked like a charm. Now, though, the CDRs I bought from staples (the HP ones) don't burn at all. I've lost like 5 DVDs and 4 CDs to coaster burns. By the by, I've been using the Nero 6 that came bundled with the burner. By the by, I have the newest firmware - the B375 installed. Don't know if that helps.

You bought the wrong thing. You may have to wait for another firmware update. I bought my dvd burner NEC1300A and i have burned more than 600 DVDs with a few coasters. Have burned RITEK, PRODISC, MEMOREX, TDK, IMMATION, Kmedia...all work great! BTW, don't envy me! 8)

What do you mean wrong thing? If it's a burner, it's supposed to burn. Anyway, anandtech said it's the greatest overall burner aside from the new Gigabyte.
