What does that mean? If the HDD checks out using the diagnostic disc, what makes you think there's something wrong with with the format (NTFS)? If you're getting some sort of error message, let us know what it is. But if you're just guessing that your shutdown problem is caused by NTFS, my guess would be it's something else.

If the computer is shutting down then start with the event viewer. Might have to setup and look at dump logs.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

"There is no error message"

"Yes there is an error message Attribute Raw Read Error"

Well, which is it? Go into the BIOS & disable SMART.

Have you checked your CPU temp? Is your power supply adequate? Have you tested your RAM with memtest86?

Look at the event viewer. Most cases you can get a more detailed explanation either from double click to the error or by going to the MS site. That all assumes the error is either generated by xp or an application that writes to the event log.

It might be part of the SMART hard drive so you might have to run HD diag's on that. Personally I would not disable smart. It is supposed to warn you that your hard drive might fail.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
