Hi everyone, I have some problems with, I suppose, my video card (ATI 9600 pro).
Here are the specs :
Intel p4 2.6ghz FBS800, Asus p4p800 motherboard, 2x512 ddr, ATI 9600 Pro 256mbIt happens a few weeks before, the monitor wouldn't display anything (in fact, sometimes yes, sometimes no, the screen was like in sleep mode... weird). I had a LCD monitor on it, plugged with a vga cable (my vid card has vga and dvi connector). At this time, I tried to plug anoter monitor on it, a CRT. It worked, I don't really understand. I try again my LCD monitor, it work, after it didn't work, and since a few weeks I had no problems at all with the monitor. Yesterday, I tried to start my pc and nothing happen, no power... I tried several things, another PSU, removing everything unneccessery, clearing the CMOS, checking each part... nothing. I decide to put everything in again without success.
I read somewhere that someone had a similar problem (with the power supply), and in order to restart his PC he had to unplug the power supply, replug it and press the power button. I tried and it work, and now, it seem to work everytime without even unplugging it.
The problem is, my video card's problem came back during this power problem. It doesn't show anything on the screen, and the led on LCD is blinking again (like a sort of sleep mode). I try my other CRT, it works the first time, then I shut off the PC and power it on again... nothing on the CRT.
Sorry for the long explanations, but... well, is it the video card the problem? I tried to remove it, clean it (well just a little). The problem is, I don't have any other video card to test. I have 2 others video card, but one is too old, and the other too recent, the connector won't match. I don't have integrated video too, so...
Should I buy another one?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hum, I'm a little confused... I just try to power on my PC and now everything is fine (I didn't touch it for about 2 hours). However, even if it has been off the whole night... this morning it wasn't working... well, I'm lost
I didn't mention it but this PC is about 5 1/2 years old. I never had problem before, only since a few weeks like I said, with the first monitor problem.
Also, don't know if it's related, but I had problem with my ethernet card, a little after the monitor problem. If I close my computer and power it, It's like if he doesn't recognize my ethernet card, I have no internet at all. The only way I find to overcome this problem is to close my PC, disconnect my internet cable, start the PC, wait that my computer is all load and that the icon showing that there is no connection in the task bar appear, and then plug the internet and now it's work. Sometimes I don't need to do these steps and it's work, sometimes not.
Maybe all these problems tell me that this PC is at the end of its life... However, if I can keep it I will, it's a good computer even after all this time
Now it works... but for how long?
EDIT : In fact... it's not really working. I tried to power off the PC then power it on again, but it didn't work... I had to play with the rocker switch 4-5 times in order to make it boot

it's possible that vid card is going but those other problems are showing the computer's age. have you replaced anything in the computer recently? if you have try removing it and (if possible) put whatever it was you had in it before. since it works on the LCD and the CRT, the problem may not be the video or the monitor. the only other thought i have at this moment is to possibly do a complete wipe, or format, of the hard drive and reinstall your OS. well ok i do have a few other ideas you should try first. try removing the vid card drivers and reinstalling them. if that doesnt work, you could borrow an LCD from a friend and see if that's the problem. if not, you could reinstall your OS. if not, well follow my advice I always give my clients: if you have more than 3 problems, junk it. it'll cost more than merely buying a new PC.

Sorry for the time, I was busy this week
As for the power problem... everything seem great, there were no problems this week.
For the monitor, I tried to uninstall the video card driver and resintall it (with more recent). After reboot, it also recognize the monitor and install driver for it. I didn't remeber it had to "install" the monitor so I tought it could be that the problem. However, the monitor continue to shut off with the power light blinking.
I format the PC and install another XP, but after a moment, the monitor was closing again without warning...
I didn't mention that but the monitor can just don't power on (well the monitor works but no image) when I start the computer, but it can also close after a moment, it work great and then it closes...I wanted to try my video card in one of my PCs but, again, it's not compatible...
The only thing I can see is look for a cheap AGP card around 30-50$ and test it. But, if it doesn't work, this graphic would be useless for me because it's the only PC that have AGP... or find someone with an old PC and AGP card, but I don't want to break something lol. After that, if it doesn't work too, well, I think it could be the motherboard and I don't think I would put money for that, it would probably be the death of this PC
Before, I'll try to switch a working LCD with the other one (the one on the "problem" PC) and test for a few days.
However, If you have another solution or idea, your help would be appreciated
