Hi guys,
I've been called upon to reformat and install windows XP on a brand new Toshiba notebook.
Problem is, that I've never done so before. I've done it a million times on a regular PC but I'm not sure how the architecture works on notebooks and how they differ (if so).
Anyway, if anyone can let me know if notebooks reformatting is similar to that of a PC (you know with 98bootdisk, FDisk, bios set CDRom 1st boot, and finally autorunning the WinXP Pro Disk), that would help me alot.

I'm told there are problems with Win XP home edition reinstalls. Something about 'online' registering before a 30 day period and if the serial number is already registered (which it will)you have to convince MS that you are the legal owner of that number...... or something like that.
Rather than set CD as first boot, I would leave a:\ as first and at that prompt select C:\ then c:\setup. When Win XP installed, you need administration rights to change settings.... or something like this.
Can you get the serial number from the registery before you start ? I can't remember how you do that but a genious on here will know.
