The LCD on my Omnibook 900 will only light up with a white hue uniform over the whole screen, no images. External montior works great. The research I've done thus far suggest it is the backlight and/or the inverter. How do I know which one and what are the steps to repairing the LCD.

If the screen is white but no data shows up on the screen. I would suspect that the brightness is turned all the way up, or that the data ribbon going to the display is damaged or has come undone.
When the inverter or backlight goes back. You usually have a dark screen. The inverter controls the voltage to the backlight.

I've tried adjusting the brightness and contrast, but to no avail. I've dismantle the monitor and the ribbon cable appears to be well connected and intact. Could the port on the motherboard be bad?
