Not Booting up after HSF installed

I installed Zalman HSF, Fan is working, now system is not booting up. No initialization. No beep. CD Rom lights OK, No keyboard light, No monitor at all. anybody tell me the procedure how to pin point the defected part OR which connection is loose.... Thanks

did you have the cpu out of the socket??
look for bent pin if so

Recheck all cables are installed correct way round

Obviously the problem is due to the HSF installation. Why did you upgrade to begin with? Are you sure you installed the Zalman correctly? Did you use paste or was a thermal pad preinstalled on the heatsink? If you used pasted, did you apply it correctly - a small dab about the size of a grain of rice in the center of the CPU?

Good point...if you connected the fan to a chassis header rather than the CPU_FAN header, it may prevent the system from booting.

Another possibility is that if the Zalman is too big & you tried to "force" it in anyway, you may have damaged one or more of the capacitors that are usually in close proximity to the CPU socket.
