Not able to boot from HDD

Specs: None, Intel (R) Pentium 4 2.66 GHZ / 1 GB DDR2 667 MHZ 240 PINS

HELP I am not able to boot from my harddrive hdd spec

1- company- Samsung
2- Category- Spinpoint
3- Model no- HD080HJ
4- Capacity - 80 GB

my computer says to select a proper boot device and reboot. I have checked all its cables are working properly and are on their right place.
when i tried to install a new O.S. they said different things
1-XP SP2- this disk cannot be used
2-vista-disc was visible but i was not able to either format or partation it was just showing an unallocated space of 74.5 GB
3-Windows7- A window pops up saying to load drivers for hardware

But disc is visible in bios

enter bios and change boot order like this (1.Fdd 2.Cd/dvd drive 3.Hdd etc).
xp disc doesn't work because there's no sata drivers.
