Subject: normal op temps for MB and CPU??
OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: E6850/2 Gig
Comment:
Hey guys.. quick question. I have a P5N-e SLI MB and E6850 processor. I have tried googling and looking in my manual. And maybe I am just missing it. But how do I find out what is considered to be the normal operating temps for both. I mean right now Idle my CPU is about 35C and the MB is about 30C. but I just want to find out what the normal range is. Is there some site to look this up. Again googling for me came up with nothing. Thanks.

A very general rule of thumb is the system temp should be within 10C of the average room temp & the CPU temp (@ idle) should be within 10C of the system temp.

example:

room temp = 21C (approx 70F)
system temp = 22-31C
CPU temp = 32-41C

Your temps are perfect! :-)

ok thanks so much.. i appreciate it. its too bad stuff like this is so hard to find online. i tried googling for everything i know and came up with squat. it would be nice if manufacturers provded that with their product. but then that would be too common sense i guess. thanks again.

There is such a wide variety of operating conditions that any published normal temperature would be meaningless.

What manufactures do provide is the maximum operating temperature which is really common sense when you understand the way these things work. Providing you keep well away from the maximum temperature then you should be fine.
