I tried to delete my partition of Windows 98 but now, whenever I boot up I get a "non system disk or disk error" message. Only thing is, I don't have a floppy drive, is there anyway I can boot from CD? I tried to change the options from BIOS menu but I'm not sure the order, I currently have it set to 1.CD-ROM 2.HARD DRIVE. It seems that it only will display the error message... Sorry for my limited knowledge of computer terms

Yeah, if the cdrom is set as the first boot device then you should be able to boot from a bootable cd. After doing so you should probably run fdisk and recreate the partition. Post back what fdisk, option 4 says if you're not sure what to do.

If you did delete the partition, after recreating it you need to partition it and then install an OS.

If you can not boot to the cd when in bios it is listed first, it is very likely the Win98 CD you have is not bootable. You will need to make a bootable CD on a different comp.

Hi, Never saw a bootable 98 CD from MS. Some OEMs may be bootable. Download a boot disk or get one from someone that has 98 running. Win 98 can make a boot disk. It's called Win Setup in Control Panel, Add/Remove programs. It will boot the system to DOS and activate the CD to read the 98 CD. It also has all the diags you need like Fdisk and Format. You can also download boot disks. MAD BOOT is one.

Good Luck, Jim
