Noisy fan (I think)

When I switch on after a day or so there is a noise from one of my fans. After a little squeeking it goes away. If I switch on again maybe later in the day it's ok. It's only if it is left to stand for a while (a day or so). How can I find out which fan if it is that that's causing the noise (could it be something else) and HOW do I cure it?

You start it up with the case open and see if you can determine which fan is making the noise. Usually, the cure is to replace the fan.

If all else fails locate the fan connectors and power up. When it starts squeeking "briefly" remove and re-instate the fan connectors one at a time (but watch where you put your hands). If the noise stops you've found it.

Just temporarily stop the fan you want to test from spinning. You can check an internal power supply fan by putting a screwdriver or some other tool through the grill (not too far as you don't want to short anything). Place the screwdriver there before turning on the power or you may break a fan blade.
