Solved No W7 option to safely remove SanDisk Cruzer Edge USB drive?

Specs: Windows 7
On inserting my ScanDisk Cruzer Edge into any Windows 7 PC, it displays in the "Computer" window as a Hard Disk Drive and not as a Device with Removable Storage. This makes it garded to eject. On one of the PCs (owing to another known issue) I cannot select the "Safely Remove Hardware" option.

Unless you've changed the default Windows Removal Policy for that device, there is no need to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature. Just make sure the drive activity light isn't busy, then pull it out.
Same applies to external hard drives too.

I just realised the Cruzer has no activity light (I've got one). Then I suggest you buy a pen drive which does have one.

Did you try using the "safely remove" icon in the notication area?

Do you have your system setup to view all the icons in the notification area? If not, try this:

- right click an empty area on the taskbar, and then click Properties.
- under Notification area, click Customize.
- check the box for "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar", then click OK.

And if you haven't already done so, I suggest enabling the Quick Launch toolbar as well.
