OS: WinXP Pro
CPU/Ram: P4 2.8 w/ 1 gig ram

I have a Compaq notebook that seems to have a video problem..When i boot it up there is no image on the screen. Everthing inside seems to be running but no picture..Replaced the ram with new ones, still not the problem..how do i tell which part is at fault...Motherboard, LCD, video invertor..??? i cant run any diags software because of the picture problem, also i tried to do video out to a external monitor and still nothing...need help ...thx alot

Can you actually hear the hard drive accessing, so you know that it's booting up?
A completely dead machine will also have a blank screen.

I should have added thatjust because the hard drive is spinning, that does not rule out a dead system.
