I have an issue with a computer where the computer is turned on the montior stays black, the computer goes through its normal startup process. I have tried the monitor on other computers and it works, I have replaced the video card and they dont work, I have tried the video card in other computers and it works there. I am not sure what to try next. Any help?

There is no such things as a problem unless the servers are on fire.

I would get this board "right down to the basics."

First, pull loose ALL hardware, and connect ONLY

ONLY the following:

The motherboard, CPU, and RAM

The power supply and keyboard

A known good video card

See if it will "POST" and display anything.

If not, reset the bios. If you can't figure out how, remove the bios battery (with the system off!) and allow it to set for a period, then reinstall the battery.

If, with this very basic "stuff" you can't get a display, you have serious

motherboard, CPU, RAM problems, and POSSIBLY but not probably a power supply.

At that point, it would be a matte of finding more hardware to use as substitution.

Also, are you getting any audio beeps (error beeps)?

Much info missing here - what interface is the video card using?? AGP, PCI, PCI Express? Which card is it? Which motherboard/system?? Is it AGP 2x, 4x, 8x?? Is it PCI 1.0, 2.0?? If it is PCI, try it in another slot.
I assume the same monitor cable is used for testing on other systems?? Some are removable from the monitor.

"the computer goes through its normal startup process."

Diagnosing the problem depends on exactly what you mean by that. If you mean that you can hear the hard drive accessing normally, like it does during a normal boot, then Zeniths response is appropriate.

Otherwise you should follow the excellent advice from Name. Your motherboard/CPU and RAM have to be working to get a display.
