Hi guys, this is my first post... I really hope someone can help.

Anyway, i've just built a PC, made sure all the components in place and very secure. Switched it on for the first time, all the fans and LED's seem to work fine, but there is a message on my screen sayine "no video input".

Anyone know what is causing this? Additonal information:
There are no beeps when I switch it on.
Asus P4V8 mother board
P4 2.4Ghz CPU
2x512MB DDRAM

Would really appreciate if someone could help me with this, I very close to going bald at this rate!

Thank you.

if it has no beep sound, then yo might have a bad mobo. i've had the same situation before, no beep sound and nothing show up at all, not even an error message or intro screen, just blank screen. but i know its the Ram problem, cuz of the post code shows on the mobo. i thought its the Ram problem, but its not. its just the mobo problem, the mobo was dead.
so check your mobo, try to install a different video card.

P4 3.2GHZ
kingstom 1GB DDR 3200
Nvidia geforce FX 5950 256mb

Common issues include video card not fully seated (you need to push hard). Processor fan not connected to the proper header. Case wiring incorrect. Drive jumpers or cables wrong. Memory not completely seated. Square 4 wire power connector not plugged in to MB. MB shorted due to standoffs in the wrong place. Standoffs should only be installed where a screw penetrates the MB. Try clearing the CMOS using the onboard jumper while the computer is unplugged. With P4 boards I think you need to take extra care on memory placement. If all else fails dismantle the entire system and remove the MB from the case. Connect only the case wiring necessary to run the board. No USB, speakers, etc. Configure the MB with just CPU/HS/fan, video card, 1 stick RAM, monitor, keyboard. No drive cables of any kind connected to the MB. Try starting. If you get a POST to system disk error then try reinstalling components one by one starting with the HD.

Thank you for your feedback...

Have dismantled the whole system and put it back together bit by bit testing it along the way...

Anway, for a bried second, I had a image on my screen. Then, back to "no video input".

Could this be a power supply problem?

Yes it could be. What size is your PSU?

No stuck buttons on the case? HS does have thermal pad or paste? HS fan is connected to correct header? The extra P4 power connector is connected. Power connector to the video card if the card requires it? PSU set for proper voltage? This can be confusing. All jumpers on the MB are set correctly? Especially the Clear CMOS jumper. That one should be in the run position. Don't assume any jumpers are OK just because that is the way the MB came. You state you tested the system bit by bit. If the first step I described in #4 doesn't yield video, don't bother going any further until you find why you aren't POSTING at that point. Did you try running with the MB outside the case? Set on cardboard that is placed over the case side with the case laid down. It can be done.

OK...

Bought a new PSU today (500 watts)... Installed it... No video input message has gone, but now when I switch it on, all fans and LED's start, then the fan immediately switches off!

Have you reseated the CPU? Be sure to use new thermal pad or paste.

I didn't remove the CPU as I couldn't get it from the Mobo. It seems it's connected by some clasps. I just tried the PSU in another pc and it works fine, so that's not the problem. I also tried another PSU and that also worked fine.

How confused am I?

Hi
I've just installed one of these mobos this last fortnight. I didn't have your problem but an ATI Radeon card wasn't compatible and I had to change to a Geforce. Also, the usb connections have given me a hell of a run around but I've got them sortrd now - I hope.
What graphics card are you using? This mobo specifies only 0.8V or 1.5V AGP cards.
