My son's K7S5A W2K system just developed "dead" USB ports. The DevMan shows "!" for these devices and error 28 - they just can not be enabled even if uninstall/install driver is done. I plugged a USB mouse dongle and I can see the LED flash but the OS will not "see" the mouse. Same for the KB. PS2 connected mouse/KB are OK. Anyone have a clue? Peter v

I cabled up an old IDE disk to the MoBo with W98 on it and ran a boot - the ports are dead. I am hopeful that a PCI adapter with USB ports goes over a different route to the CPU - that looks like my only chance now. Many thanks and regards
