had to redo the entire pc???? paid to have win xp installed after crash but dude said no luck on sound worked fine before!!!!

Right click My Computer and select Properties. Look for the hardware tab and then select Device manager. Look for a yellow exclamation mark which indicates errors. If there is a mark on your sound and audio device, right click it and select update driver. Sounds like you're missing the driver for your on board sound.
