Comment:

I just bought new Logitech 5.1 x540 speakers. I have the latest driver for my ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo which has an 8 channel sound card. I have the sound settings on 5.1 instead of the 7.1 it supports. Everything is plugged in properly. No settings are muted. If I plug headphones in to the wired remote control, i get sound through the headphones. I just get no sound from my speakers or subwoofer, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

How about trying the headphones in the various audio jacks on the board? Have you adjusted the audio controls & enabled the jacks? On my Asus board, I double click on the volume icon, then click Advanced, then check the box for "rear speakers connected to Line-in" & "Center speaker & subwoofer connected to microphone"

I had a similar problem when i first built my pc a couple of weeks ago with my headset and speakers and was able to fix it by getting the latest driver
Also i had to set some settings thru the sound chip software

I had 2.1 speakers before these, so if I have to enable certain jacks, I don't know how to do that. Which volume icon are you referring to?
