Comment: I have no sound (just reinstalled os). I have an msi model 6728 mobo, went to site and down loaded the audio file listed still no sound. device manager shows yellow mulitmedia audio controller warning. I had removed the sound card thinking that was problem and hope to use the onboard sound to correct. It appears that I'm in need of the controller, where can if find it looked all over the net with no success. Frustrated, confused, lost and in dire need of help. would greatly appreciate, many thanks in advance

Reply: (edit)If you had both on-board sound and a sound card, the drivers you downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer would have been for the on-board sound. The drivers for the card would be supplied by the card manufacturer. Since you were using a card, the on-board sound was probably disabled in cmos/bios setup. To use the on-board you'd need to go back in and re-enable it. Otherwise keep it disabled and find the drivers for the card.

Reply: (edit)I had removed the sound card, went to the bios and checked the audio which is listed as auto, still no sound. I have been to MSI and have downloaded realtec audio 97 it was a 24mb forever to complete download.Still no sound. I can't find a listing in my start menu for the program. I am going to reinstall sound card and a set of later drivers just found on internet. Saying a quick prayer, and will get back to you, many thanks for the response. Mau Imaumau

Reply: (edit)Apparently there are different versions of that motherboard. Some have the realtek audio controller, some have intel and others have c-media. Are you sure you got the right download?

Reply: (edit)Have just reinstalled card(chaintech 7.1)had to install microsoft NET.framework, before I could install the Envy24 family audio driver. Result: the device manager no longer shows yellow, Bios shows disabled, yet still no sound. I tried reverse the bios, double checked all of the volume boxes. Still same, no sound. Unless there is something else, I thinking bad sound card. Card is fairly new no more than three months old.Should I be heading to the market? thanks Mau Imaumau

Reply: (edit)Hard to say. I'd think between the on-board and card you could get one of them to work. Could it be something else like bad speakers or speaker wires?

Reply: (edit)Just installed new "Turtle Beach,"soundcard, singing to the heavens. All is well, seems chaintech bit the dust on me and at such a young age. (The card was less than six months old)Bugging off for now, many thanks again for the help and support. Mau Imaumau
