You appear to have two post running around this issue?

This is the other one:

Hi, the recorder is--toshiba rd-97dtkb dvd/hdd. Sound is ok on dvd & hdd playback. When sky is on sound is ok, until the recorder is turned on. Then the sound is no more.

Not being a moderator… I can't merge or whatever the two into one.. But perhaps a moderator will get across this and do what's needed…

Meanwhile perhaps we should stick with this thread overall.

When recorder is turned on - Sky audio stops…

You can hear audio when you play a dvd or playback from the hdd.

Before you power up the Toshiba how are you monitoring audio from Sky.

How is your system arranged/configured and what does it include - at least in the audio path.

mmm Make and model of your unit would be 'most helpful".

For the benefit of our cousins (as they say in spooks-land) SCART is an a-v connector used on dvd, satellite boxes, external decoders/tuners etc. to a tv.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCART

Not used in N. America as best I can tell…

In the meantime... if you connect the rca audio outputs to your tv.. does the dvd audio arrive then?

Presuming you are in the UK or Europe (SCART areas) can you double check the model number - and also the serial number; and how old is this unit?

If it's pre 2008... then I can't access Toshiba's "legacy" support area - unless I have an account registered with them, and I don't. (Presumably one sets it up when registering the unit when new or whenever?)

Not having the manual doesn't allow me (or anyone else either...?) to see if there are any settings that may have been inadvertently altered?

Can you work your way through the assorted minefield of settings (playback?) that invariably are part of these devices; if only to verify everything is as it ought to be?

Does it pass incoming audio through - which it ought to do (usually) - when not actually recording but in effect monitoring?
