I have a new sound card. but sound does not come through the DVD rom or front pin

You may need to install an audio cable from the DVD drive to the sound card. Or you may simply need to reset some of the options in the sound settings.

I assume you were previously using on board sound? The sound, in that case was carried by the data connection cable to the motherboard which then routed it to the sound chip. Now you are using an add in card so that connection may no longer be available.

As far as the front case sound ports goes you need to reroute the wires from the case to motherboard and now connect them to internal output connections on the SB card.

Did you install the drivers for the new sound card? Check in device manager to make sure it's set up OK.
