Hi, I don't have any sound. The volume control icon is missing. In the device manager says that it is working properly. In the control panel, under the sounds and multimedia icon, the box is checked for the volume control to be on the task bar, but it isn't. if I hit the audio tab says that the preferred device is "no playback devices", and I am unable to change it solved this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Would suggest you un-install, reboot, then install the Audio Drivers:
