I connected my laptop to my T.V. using an S-Video cable. I am seeing the picture fine on the television, but when i go to play a song or a movie, i hear no sound, but see the picture clearly. I open my volume control and nothing was muted or lowered in volume. Why could this be? Does S-Video not allow sound? Does it only allow picture to be shown on the Television?

S-video does not carry sound. To hear the sound you need a separate audio cable from your sound card.
The TV should have two RCA sockets, a red one and a white one for left and right stereo. There might also be a yellow one, that is for composite video.
You need a cable with a 3.5mm stereo jack on one end and two RCA plugs on the other. They can be obtained from most computer or audio stores.

You can also use a stereo RCA cable if you have one and just get an adapter has the stereo jack at on ende and two RCA connectors on the other!
