Comment:

i have built a computer using a MSI MS-6380 LE2 ATX ver 2 G52-Ma00461 mobo. all has gone well with xp pro installed ok. the problem is there is no sound. i have not fitted a sound card and it is supposed to have,INTERGRATED HARDWARE SOUNDBLASTER/DIRECTSOUND AC97 AUDIO. there is an option in the bios to allow the o/s to detect peripherals. should this be set to enable . it is not at the moment.

Install the sound Card drivers. They shoud be on the CD that came with the Motherboard.

The onboard sound *should* be enabled by default, but check the BIOS. Also, you always custom configure your BIOS to best match your hardware...don't just select "default" or "optimized deafult". The wrong BIOS settings can cost you as much as 30% performance.

That being said, make sure to install the sound drivers as was recommended by StuartS. If you don't have a driver CD, you should be able to download the drivers from the MSI website. And don't forget to install the chipset drivers. If this is a KT266 board, try VIAarena.com...you *may* be able to find ALL your drivers there.

Also to add to what StuartS and Jam have said, check the Audio jumper settings on the MB. On some motherboards (not familiar with MS-6380)if the jumpers are set to connect to front panel connectors of your case, then that would disable the rear connectors.
