no sound from earphone of CD-ROM

i got no sound from earphone of Mats---a CR-588 CD-ROM when playing CD, but i can get sound from speaker through sound-card.

the headphone jack on the cd-rom will only output music from an Audio CD and not from any other

I read your post right.
Your speakers should have a headphone output on them. Most do.
I don't see the purpose of the headphone jack on the cd rom anymore.

you could try to go to the device manager and then click on the cdrom properties and then check the (enable digital cd audio for this cd rom device) this might work but im not sure
if this doesnt work you could go to windows media player and clicking on options, cd audio and click digital playback to remove check mark then do the steps above.
Summary: how much watts is enough for a pent 4? i have a 200w hooked up to a pent 4 1.9 ghz with a msi fx 5200. it doesnt boot...nothin on monitor i can hear sounds from hardive for about 5 sec then its quiet....
