Comment: my pc has recently been struck by lightning. so ive been buying the pieces it fried piece by piece untill i can get it running again. ive bought a new pwr suply, then found out the mobo was fried. i bought a new mobo, and now i have no signal to the monitors. i figured my vid card was done, turned the diagnostics speaker on on the mobo, and i still get error sounds when i take the vid card out. does this mean my cpu is fried? because theres no burn marks or evidence of that. also, the pc was running when it got hit. specs: -ASPIRE ATX 520W Power Supply -DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard -1.5 gig of ocz preformance ram -ati powercolor x800gt -amd64 3200 vinice -neal

Reply: (edit)You will get error beeps if a video adapter is not available or defective. That is normal. The fact that you get beeps indicates that the CPU is fine. Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Reply: (edit)If you bought a new motherboard. There should be a motherboard manual with it. Either a book or on the CD. Look for the beep codes in the manual. It will tell you what the codes mean. And what peice of hardware is at fault.

Reply: (edit)ok, my manual said the error message meant it was a "DRAM" error. but why would that leave me with no signal to my monitors? -neal
