The monitor is not getting a video signal from the computer.
Try a new signal cable from monitor to PC.

If that makes no difference, you'll have to take it to a PC repair shop and ask them to look at it.

Also if you can borrow another working monitor test the desktop vga (monitor) output that way. If that test monitor works with whichever cable (yours and perhaps another cable) and your monitor doesn't.. then it's your monitor. If the test monitor doesn't work OK with your and another cable - then likely you have a problem with the vga card inside the desktop.

It is 'just possible" that the vga card may have become improperly seated in its slot? To check that - power down and remove the mains cord plugged into the desktop. Open the case/cover on the desktop unit. Locate and reseat the vga (monitor) card securely. Restore power and check with monitors again as above?

You really haven't provided enough info. All we know is you have an HP desktop & it's not sending a signal to the monitor. Please post the model & model number.

Had the PC been working properly up until this problem started or were you having other issues prior to this happening? When you attempt to boot, are the fans spinning up & LEDs lighting up on the case? Are you hearing any beeps? Was the computer recently moved & possibly something became dislodged in the process? or maybe something was reconnected incorrectly?
