Comment: I turn on my computer, the fans all start, it makes good computer-like sounds, but nothing else happens. The monitor keeps saying "no input signal - switch to power save" as it does when the computer is off and you turn the monitor on. What's more i don't get any beep codes, including the single beep you usually get for a successfull startup. My current hardware is GA 7VAC mobo 2200+ athlon proc 512MB ddr sdram at 266mhz geforce 4 4400 128MB graphics card I previously had a 2000+ athlon proc in the same mobo, and i was still getting the same problem. I transplanted the proc and mobo into a completey different computer, but the problem still stayed. So, i'm thinking it's either the proc or the mobo. So i buy a new proc, and send the mobo back to the shop i bought it from. They assured me the mobo worked fine on their systems. So i install my new processor, and the problems are still there.

Reply: (edit)I would suggest removing the vid card and see if you get any beeps, go with memory next and ck, then both. I would also pull the CMOS battery and let it set to default just for S&G's first. The process of elimination is endless LOL. Clyde

Reply: (edit)Reseat your video card, or better yet try another one. Sounds like a video card problem or AGP slot problem. If you have a PCI video card, try that, if the above doesn't work.

Reply: (edit)Video card problems will cause beeps. No beep at all means the CPU is not running.

Reply: (edit)I highly doubt it's a video card problem. I have seen this problem many times at work (I'm a PC support technician at a local middle school) on some of the clones we have. Generally, a complete lack of a POST code (the beeps you were talking about) means that you motherboard has failed. This could be caused by any number of things, but usually a ligtning strike or a failed capacitor on the motherboard itself. I hope your machine is still under warranty, because if I'm right you're probably looking at buying a $200 part.

Reply: (edit)i had this problem, if your mother board can hold two different types of ram then look in the manual or on the board for a jumper that selects the type of ram your computer is using.

Reply: (edit)I'm certain the video card is not at fault, because both the video cards i tried have worked fine in another computer. I took out the video card, IDE cables, all pci cards and memory. Then i got a beep code. Then i added memory but left video and everything else out, and i got no beep codes, no matter which DIMM slot i use. i have used this piece of RAM before and it has been fine, and i have also tested it in another computer and it seems to be fine there.

Reply: (edit)I have the same problem except when I switch the cpu's I get beeps saying that my cpu is bad and with the old one there are no beeps at all. I tried using a PCI vid card but that didn't help and I know for a fact that it works cause it came out of my comp, guess I'll check memory next.
