No rom?

CPU/Ram: pentium 2 /32meg
Comment:

when the intell mobo I'm playing with is sent to bios it shows all hardware properly. But, when I let it POST Iget a NO Floppy/ No CDROM
error
then a NO ROM error
at which point it halts the computer

Have you tried the stuff on another pc to make sure they both still work? They might still show up in bios even if they dont work fully anymore.

Hi not sure about the no floppy/no cdrom error but the no rom error is just saying that there is no device to boot from.
need more infor to help much!
do you have a floppy,cd drive?
how is the cd drive and hdd connected and configured?
have you tryed to boot with a boot floppy or a bootable cd?
what is the boot order in bios?
what os will you install?

BOth the Hdd And cdrom are on seperate channels
the cd rom was working on my linux box but was flakie so I replaced. The floppy was working last year I can try another if I need to.
I plan to run linux on this system I'm thinking susie or red hat. But a'm very new to them. My Linux box has just been started.
I'll go to win 98 second edition to stars if nessary just to eliminate problems if nessarry.
right now I'v been tring to boot a dos floppy with cd rom support so I can make shure the HD is ok

try booting with a known good win98se bootable floppy, one you tryed on a different comp to make sure it boots good.
make sure in bios put first boot device a: you can change it to want you want latter.

if the floppy light stays on, cable is on backward. my try removeing cd for now to get comp to boot to floppy.
