I just replaced my motherboard because the bios on the old one was corrupted. I installed the new one but the computer won't boot. The power supply fan goes and the hdd/reset leds are flashing. There are no beeps either. It's an Asus p2b mobo. the cpu fan doesn't go and neither does the harddrive. I tested that both the cpu chip and the harddrive work.
Please help!!
thanks in advance
dtran

make sure the cable to the floppy drive is plugged up correct. I just had the same problem and after I remove the floppy to check it everything booted. I had the cable flipped.

I tried removing all unneeded devices and just hooking up cpu, video and ram... still no good... just as a note the hdd and reset leds are blinking in sync..
Thanks

Pull the motherboard out of the case, set it on some insulating material and try it. You might have a mounting stud in the wrong place.

I took it out of the case and still no good. I even tried removing everything except the power sw and the cpu fan.. nothing... The odd thing is the PSU turns on the LEDS blink.

I have such problem as you. I test my CPU. It is OK. I remove everything except CPU but it still don't work. May be BIOS corrupted? But why fun didn't work? I think it is controller on Motherboard or something else. If you decide this problem, please, send me how.

does anyone have any other ideas on this topic? My
PC at home (which is 200 miles away from me right
now) was unexpectedly turned off thanks to a power
failure at our house. Now when my parents push the power button all that
happens is the Power and HD LEDs just flash once.
No fans, nothing. I bought a new power supply today
and it should be there by this weekend and I'm
heading home this upcoming weekend to check out
the situation.Did the OP figure out how to fix their problem or did
anyone with a similar problem ever figure out how to
rectify it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also, its a giga-byte motherboard so I'm going to
force it to boot from the backup bios and see if that
makes a difference.
