I have a Hitachi 500GB drive. I was working on computer when it froz so I had to shut down. When I powered up again computer did not recognize this drive, it is my 3rd drive. I took it out of computer and hooked it up individually with power cable and usb cable. BUT, there does NOT seem to be any power being on in the drive???

Is it an IDE or SATA drive? If there is nothing wrong with the power or data cables inside your system then putting the drive in an external enclosure isn't going to prove anything. Not sure what you mean when you say you have taken it out and connected power & USB cables.

It is a SATA Drive. what I mean is that I removed it from my PC because it started not to recognize that drive when I powered on. So I hooked up the drive outside the pc into a USB, BUT, there was NO SOUND at all when I pluigged the power in. Since my original posting, I already had it in freezer overnight, but, still NO power when I hooked it up next day??? Is it totally gone, or, can I perhaps switch the boards from another hared drive?
