Probably an internal fault on the motherboard.
Only a laptop repair centre can shed more light on why it's "dead".

Hi Aly, have you metered the output on your new charger?

Meter at the jack plug that connects with your laptop. The voltage should be about that stated on the psu rating label.

If correct, the fault is within your laptop - possibly the jack socket has a bad connection, or as Pip22 suggests.

Please advise back on progress.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Watch out for trying meters on some ac adapters. Some will not power up unless it has a correct or near correct load. They may look to be dead when in fact they are OK

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
