Specs: Windows 7
my Toshiba satellite c855 laptop has been driving me nuts! the power is gone. I have replaced the cmos battery, the power adapter, the power jack, and the main battery. it powers on only for 24 hours, shuts off, and stays off with each new part. why?! I haven't even had it for a year, but the last 6 mos. power problems only get worse. and Toshiba tells me that my warranty expired one month after purchase. please don't tell me that I have to replace the motherboard?!

"Toshiba tells me that my warranty expired one month after purchase".

Something wrong there, unless you bought it second-hand?

As for the actual problem, my guess is the motherboard is faulty.

✔ Best Answer
Does the laptop shut off at exactly 24 hours each time or different intervals? Are you sure it is shutting down completely and not going into sleep or hibernate modes?

Could be overheating but that would not work on a regular schedule.

Look in Control Panel> power options to see how things are currently set. Post back with some answers.
