No POST, PC Turns on and off

CPU/Ram: P4 3.2GHz / 2GB DDR2 667

I just Built my new PC with a Gigabye G8-8N-SLI-Pro MOBO, after plugging it all in it starts for a sec then reboots iself and all i can get in a black screen no POST, the monitor acts as if its sleeping...i had this problem with another PC prior to this after a power outage...could my surge protector be fryed, or did i just get a bad mobo?

Your motherboard could be shorting out.Wrong length screws.Did not use all standoffs.

Ok well there was one Standoff that was not lined up with a hole that i used with a previous mobo, also i did not screw the mobo to all standoffs, so its pretty clear what happened, thanks for the info...and is my mobo fryed completly or can it be salavged if i now screw in all the standoffs?

There is a good chance everything will work fine if it's installed properly and don't short out.Go back to response 3 in this post.Go to that site and do a good read.Good Luck!!I use flat rubber washers on each screw hole on the motherboard when I install it to keep from shorting out on the case.You'll find them at a hardware store,maybe Home depot.
