Try removing the MBoard from the case and running it outside with only CPU/HS/fan and 1 stick of memory. No cards or drives or drive cables. Check the case to MB wiring inscluding the square 4 wire power connector from the power supply. What size power supply do you have? Did you use a thermal pad or thermal paste between the CPU and the Heatsink? Is the heatsink installed backward? Is the HSink fan connected to the HSfan header on the MBoard?

Hi

Done all of the above except removing the mobo.

The p4 processor came with its own fan and thermal pad these have all been working.

Reseated everything

using a 500W dual fan P4 Psu

All power connectors have all been reseated.

Still nothing.

The reason to remove the MB from the case is to eliminate to possibility of a short due to an incorrectly installed standoff or a loose screw, things like that. Try some different memory if you have any available. When buying parts from Ebay, the quality can always be suspect.

Hi

I never bought the components from Ebay i bought them from Ebuyer.co.uk. A specialist pc supplier.

I think i have another psu with a 20pin connector and P4 4 pin ill have to look, however i dont have anymore ram.

Ill try to remove the mobo and see what happens. I cant see it being the PSU because everything is brand new and theres def power going into the mobo as the green led lights up?

Do you have the square power connector plugged into the MBoard? Saw Ebuyer and read Ebay, sorry about that.

You have it down to five possible items. PSU, MB, processor, video, memory. That is assuming you tried the board out of the case. Try swapping any of these that you have spare parts available for.

One other thing I just thought of. If the momentary start button on the case sticks in you won't boot. I had that happen on a new case.

Hi

Changed video card for a different one.

changed psu

dont have anymore ram, spare mobo or processor.

So its down to 3!

i do have some p133 ram but doubt that iut would work in this mobo.

How could a 2 day old pc fry itself?? its plugged into a power surge protector and its just been sat there under no strain?

I would suspect the CPU as the most likely candidate.

Another thing to try is remove the RAM and try to boot.

Of course I should mention, don't touch anything inside the case without first removing the mains plug.

Hi

Ive been wearing an anti static wrist band anyway.

Ive already tried to boot without the ram still the same?

i think ill return the mobo, cpu and case as the usb port on the side is knackered, crap build.

Thinking about it.. my fiancee tried to insert her data cable into the knackered p[ort before it went??

do you think that... the mobile phone sent a surge down the cable into the usb cabling through the mobo to fry the cpu???

This sorta changes things. I the USB port on the case is shorting to ground, it will possibly pull the entire system down.

With the power cable removed, as there is always 5V on an ATX board even with the power off, try disconnecting the USB header.

Anything is possible. Most likely just would fry the USB controller. Did you ever try to run that board out of the case?

Just from what I see, after looking over all the work that's been done, my impression is either RAM (no beep) or CPU (also no beep).

You have a good warranty on both, so that's the place to start. I'd try getting in touch with ebuyer now, in hopes that you can get it resolved soon, rather waiting for the middle of January.

I have been through the exact same scenario and man! is it frustrating. My problem turned out to be a dead CPU (from eBay) and I ended up buying new almost everything before I got it going. Unfortunately, I had no warranty, so you are in better shape there. Good luck.

I hope this helps. :)

Bob
