Hello. I moved my fully-functional PC from one desk in the house to another, and now I get no picture on the monitor. I had disconnected all the cables from the main unit, but left the VGA cable in the back of the monitor. I reconnected the cables again, but it now seems there is no signal reaching the monitor. I don't think the monitor is faulty, as it is behaving normally (and I still see the 'power save' logo appear before it powers down to standby). I am a complete novice with PCs, but am guessing the problem lies with a faulty lead or video card. Does anyone have any other ideas, or suggestions as to how I could fix this? Thanks very much.

Common situation when moving a system.
Disconnect all power. Open the case. Re-seat all power and data cables, PCI/AGP cards and remove/reseat the ram. Then reconnect and boot up. See if you get a display.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Do you have an AGP video card? These cards must be fully seated in their slot in order to work. If the motherboard doesn't have a latch to hold the card in (most don't) the card can work itself loose over time. All it takes is a half milimeter out of place to not work at all.

If the card wasn't seated and fixed too well the lead hanging on it might have pulled it out of its socket slightly. See #3.
