No normal Vista screen for broken laptop LCD

Specs: Windows Vista
i have broken my laptop screen so connected to a monitor,however when i start windows normally it starts up on my laptop screen.the only way i can see anything on the monitor screen is by using it in safe mode.can anyone tell me how to start up on the monitor screen normally and not in safe mode please.

... you might be able to toggle your monitor on/off by tapping your Function <key>

... <Fn> + <monitor> keys

... monitor <key> should be on the top row of keyboard with monitor icon on it(?)

... or try low resolution mode during <F8> bootup.
