No monitor signal...

Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel CORE2 vPro 3.2Ghz / 4Gb
I recently decided to upgrade my graphics card as I do a lot of CAD work...

I'm using a Dell Optiplex 960 that is completely standard.

I bought a HP NVIDIA Quadro 600 1.0GB Graphics Card (WS093AA).

When i install the new card and try to boot up I get nothing on my monitor. (I'm using the same DVI to VGA adapter as I did before using the built in graphics card). When I take out the new card and revert back to the on-board graphics card its fine.

I've been in the bios and disabled the on-board graphics to avoid any conflict between the two, but still nothing.

Other than that the PC seems to boot up like normal...minus a display.

Oh I should mention that I have two of the quadro cards and two of these machines and I get the same with both, even though the two machines have different monitors.

Any ideas folks?

The Graphics card may not be compatable with your Mother Board. Find out the max speed on your mother boards PCIEXP connector. It may only support x4 and not x16. Also, make sure you plug in the external power to the graphics card from your PSU.

motherboard is PCIe x16 compatible...

...i've narrowed the problem down to a DVI to 2xVGA (for dual monitors).

I tried using single DVI connection straight to the monitor and this worked.

As I said before I have two PC's, one has one monitor and the other is dual monitor.

The one monitor set up is VGA only, and a dual monitor set up previously used DVI to 2xVGA (even though the monitors supported DVI i had a spare dvi to 2xVga splitter that I used to give me the dual screen)

Do you think a DVI splitter will work to get my dual screen working again? even though every adapter/splitter I try doesn't appear to be compatible(I'm sure they are all functional, just incompatible for some reason?)

Also, I tried using a HDMI to single DVI connecter and this wouldn't work either. Only the DVI to DVI cable worked.

I'm not sure what to do with my VGA only monitor pc, i tried using the DVI to 2xVGA adapter but using only one VGA...but this didn't work either.

I hope that all made sense,
