No LPT port in virtual PC 2007?

Specs: Win XP, Centrino
I have installed virtual PC on my laptop, I have setup a virtual HD with win 3.1installed, however when I enter settings and try to activate the LPT1 port it does not show, I'm guessing XP has already captured the port and this is why it's not showing? Anyone know how to free the LPT port for VPC?

Is there a real parallel port in the laptop or is it a usb to parallel adapter?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
